He guards us through the dark of night
And shields us from temptation's dread -
Surrounds us with His healing light
And gives us promised peace instead.
He cares! Our Lord does truly care
About the trials we face on earth
And though we cannot see Him there
He fills us with a sense of worth.
If only we could try to hear
The calming comfort of His voice,
In quiet times, to feel Him near
We'd sing hosannas and rejoice.
For though our days are often tied
And pain portends a twilight dim,
To realize He's by our side
Makes life worth living, if lived for Him.
