If He Can't Handle You At Your Worst

“If he can't handle you at your worst
then he does not deserve you at your best.
Real love means seeing beyond the words spoken out of pain,
and instead seeing a person's soul.”

Visionary Feminism

“Visionary feminism is a wise and loving politics.
It is rooted in the love of male and female beings,
refusing to privilege one over the other.
The soul of feminist politics is the commitment
to ending patriarchal domination of women and men, girls and boys.
Love cannot exist in any relationship that is based on domination and coercion. Males cannot love themselves in patriarchal culture if their very self-definition relies on submission to patriarchal rules.
When men embrace feminist thinking and practice,
which emphasizes the value of mutual growth and self-actualization in all relationships, their emotional well-being will be enhanced.
A genuine feminist politics always brings us from bondage to freedom,
from lovelessness to loving.”

Every Now And Then

“Every now and then,
I’d meet a guy and think
that we were getting along great,
and suddenly I’d stop hearing from him.
Not only did he stop calling,
but if I happened to bump into him
sometime later he always acted like I had the plague.
I didn’t understand it.
I still don’t.
And it bothered me.
It hurt me.
With time, it got harder and harder
to keep blaming the guys,
and I eventually came to the conclusion
that there was something wrong with me.
That maybe I was simply meant to live my life alone.”

~ Nicholas Sparks, The Lucky One
