My Journey

I walked one day with Pleasure,
We sang a lilting song,
But, at our parting, not a measure
Remained to help my steps along.

I walked one day with Sorrow,
The journey sad, and long,
But the faith she had for tomorrow
Left me with a song!

I walked one day the road alone,
Or so I thought I did,
But soon God's love-light shone:
My sadness disappeared, and hid.

I know I'll never walk alone,
For I can hold His hand,
And, when my burden seems a stone,
On the Rock of Faith I'll stand!

Hope

'Tis better to hope,
though clouds hang low,
And keep the eyes uplifted,
For the sweet blue sky
will soon peep through,
When the ominous clouds are rifted.

There was never a night
without a day
Or an evening without a morning,
And the  darkest hour,
as the proverb goes,
Is the hour before the dawning.

We Always Hope

We always hope; and
in all things it is
better to hope
than to despair.
When we return to
real trust in God,
there will no
longer be room
in our soul for
fear.

O Lord, Our God

O Lord, our God, under the
shadow of Thy wings let us
hope. Thou wilt support us, both when
little, and even to gray hairs. When
our strength is of Thee, it is strength;
but, when our own, it is feebleness.

We return unto Thee. O Lord, that
from their weariness our souls may rise
towards Thee; for with Thee is refresh-
ment and true strength. Amen.

God, Grant Me...

Courage and Hope
for every day,
Faith to guide me
along my way,
Understanding
and Wisdom, too,
And Grace to Accept
what life gives me to do.

My Resolution

I won't look back;
God knows the fruitless efforts,
The wasted hours, the and the sinning, the regrets;
I'll leave them all with Him who blots the record,
And mercifully forgives and then forgets.

I won't look forward;
God sees all the future,
The road that, short or long, will lead me home,
And He will face me with every trial,
And bear with me the burdens that may come.

But I'll look up ---
into the face of Jesus,
For there my heart can rest, my fears are stilled;
And there is joy and love, light for darkness,
And perfect peace, and every hope fulfilled.

Hope Perches In The Soul

Hope
...perches in the soul,
And sings...
And never stops at all.
