Come listen to the ocean's song
And hear a symphony,
Concordance keyed to merging notes,
A tidal ecstasy.
A dot of time when earth and sky
Unite upon the shore;
Full complement of nature's best,
Oh hear the crash and roar.
But waves becalm, then disappear
Into a softened night;
And with the steps of slowed retreat
The music takes its flight.
And standing there I sense my loss
As trailing notes fade low;
From sea to sea - God's symphony,
As throbbing ebb and flow.
