Autumn's Falling Leaves

 The Autumn leaves are falling now
In places far and near,
A carnival of colors bright
Our hearts will e'er hold dear

I watch them whirl and twirl around
Like dancers at a ball
And wonder who will pick them up
When on the lawn they fall.

Small creatures come in playful moods
And scamper through the leaves
That children toss up in the air
From piles beneath the trees.

When evening comes, leaves heaped high,
We dine in campfire style;
Marshmallows toasted golden brown
Make all the work worthwhile.

Bright Autumn leaves are tumbling down,
So soon they disappear;
Mother Nature's way of telling us
Winter's drawing near.
