Lord, set me afire with a white-hot blaze,
Consuming all of my willful ways,
Burn away all that You see,
That might deter or hinder me.
Sear me right down to the bone,
'Til every sinful thought is gone,
Let the flames rise hot and bright,
Like a scarlet vigil light.
Lord, let me mirror only Thee,
'Til there's nothing left of me,
Let my soul reflect the glow
Of Thy goodness here below.
Rid me of each vain desire,
In this ever-cleansing fire,
And when my heart shall cease to beat,
