The Dinner Guest...

 

Tonight I set the table;

It was a table set for two -

I used my finest linens,

And the silverware was new...

 

Tonight I set the table;

It was laden with His food -

I served faith and hope and goodness,

And a dish of brotherhood...

 

Tonight I set the table;

With a plate of peace and love;

Than I spread the cloth with kindness,

And sweet mercy from above...

 

Tonight I set the table,

And received a great rewards,

For my guest arrived to bless it;

I was waiting for the Lord!
