Give Me a Day

Give me a day when winds blow free
And white clouds scurry over;
I'll lock my door and hurry forth
And be gypsy rover.
I'll journey to the splashing sea
Where the waves swell wild and wide;
I'll wash my face in the salty spray
Of the savage, surging tide.
I'll visit neighbors of the wood,
Great oak and towering pine;
Inherit a hundred years of peace
From those ancient friend of mine.
Give me a day when wild winds sweep
Over hill slopes green and high;
I'll race to the summit's tallest peak
Flinging kisses to the sky.
