Fruit and nut and yellow leaf -
Each returns to earth's warm lap;
Each one tells that life is brief
With each thud and rustling tap.
Autumn with her russet flowers,
Objects falling to the ground,
Speaks of nature's golden hours.
Autumn is a lovely sound!
