If I Could

 

If I could change one human trait

To add to joys of earth -

One single will of human kind

To crown each human birth -

I would endow each heart with love

To last to end of life

And never change or wane to woes

Or challenges of strife.

 

I would endow it with the strength

That grows with years of time

And nurtures all God's living things -

With love for every kind;

And each of us would live with love

From birth until life's end -

To share God's gift of life and earth,

As Christian hearts and friends.
