As summer turns to autumn
Throughout September land,
Rich, ripened harvest plenty
Abounds at every hand.
The earth is full of fragrance
Of mellow fruit and hay.
The sky's an azure canvas,
And crickets chirp all day.
Vermillion leaves are scattered
Among remaining green.
Wild goldenrod and asters
Enhance the roadside scene.
I feel a reverent wonder
At such abundant love
Sent from a gracious Father
Sustaining from above.
