All through the ages --- to this day
A symbol --- reigns the bird of prey.
On nations' banners, forts, and gates,
Armor, currency, and estates;
Hovering there in bold contour,
A sign of strength in peace or war;
O'er lowest sect to station regal,
With stately mien, guards the eagle.
